Cy-Fair company accuses Spring entrepreneur of theft, misappropriation of trade secrets

A Cy-Fair company is suing its former office manager, claiming he breached his position of trust to steal company equipment and trade secrets.

Cy-Fair's American Rodsmiths Inc. filed a lawsuit on July 12 in Harris County District Court against Brett Crawford and Robert Brown, of Spring, citing breach of contract, breach of fiduciary duty, civil theft and conversion.

According to the brief, Brown and Crawford used American Rodsmiths' confidential information and trade secrets to start their own competing business.

Insurers Need Not Cover Trade Secrets Theft Verdict, 5th Circuit Rules

The jury ruled that Consolidated Graphics committed three torts: misappropriation of trade secrets, intentional interference with at-will employment relations and breach of fiduciary duty. It awarded Rudamac $5,698,000 in compensatory damages jointly and severally against Chambers, Thousand Oaks and Consolidated Graphics. It also awarded punitive damages, including $1,500,000 against Thousand Oaks and $6,647,000 against Consolidated Graphics. The judgment was affirmed on appeal.

CME Group Software Engineer Accused of Stealing Source Code for

A CME Group Inc. (CME) employee was charged by the U.S. with stealing trade secrets from the world's largest futures exchange for a Chinese start-up company in which he was to hold a financial stake.

Chunlai Yang, 49, of Libertyville, Illinois, has been in federal custody since his July 1 arrest on a single theft-of- trade-secrets count, punishable by as long as 10 years in prison, according to the U.S. Federal Bureau of Investigation.

"They discovered that thousands of files had been downloaded to his computer and some were then copied to removable storage devices," including files that were "critical to the operation of the CME Group," according to the FBI.

Court Allows RGGI To Take $105 Million Worth Of "Confidential" NJ Cap-and-Trade Secrets To The Grave

RGGI may be dying in New Jersey, but a judge has decided to let the cap-and-trade scheme take $105 million of secrets to the grave.

"The decision by the Governor to withdraw New Jersey's participation in RGGI does not change the court's decision," wrote Feinberg in a 75-page opinion. The judge ruled that the confidentiality of auction bidders outweighed the public's right to know about the transactions.
