DuPont Reports Trade Secrets Suit Over Titanium Technologies

DuPont Co. said it sued USA Performance Technology Inc., Performance Group (USA) Inc. and two individuals for allegedly misappropriating confidential specifications for its titanium pigment manufacturing process.

The two defendant companies, both based in Oakland, California, and two of its employees have, or are in the process of providing DuPont's trade secrets to DuPont's competitors in China, according to a complaint DuPont said was filed in federal court in California.

Wilmington Trust suit says 3 took trade secrets

SAN FRANCISCO, April 1 (Reuters) - Wilmington Trust Co (WL.N) on Friday sued three former bankers who defected to Citigroup Inc's (C.N) private bank, claiming they took trade secrets and are using the information to attract clients.

The suit in Delaware Chancery Court names Barbara L. McCollum, Robert D. Rosenberg and Paul T. Gordon, who are among a team of five that left for Citi after Wilmington Trust agreed in November to be bought by M&T Bank Corp (MTB.N) for $351 million.

HP suing former exec over theft of trade secrets

In a case that echos of its turmoil with ex-CEO Mark Hurd, Hewlett-Packard is suing a former executive, claiming he stole trade secrets before jumping ship to Oracle.

In the lawsuit filed yesterday, HP alleges that Adrian Jones, the former head of enterprise sales in the company's Asian division, copied proprietary documents and e-mails about HP product information onto a USB device, according to Reuters.

In a further twist to the case, HP said it was going to fire Jones after it learned that he had an inappropriate relationship with a subordinate, had set up a large pay increase for that person, and had filed several thousand dollars worth of business expenses over visits with the subordinate, though no company business was involved, said The Wall Street Journal.

Ex Ford Employee Sentenced for taking Trade Secrets

A one-time employee of Ford Motor Company who is a Chinese National has been sentenced in U.S. District Court in Detroit for stealing Trade secrets.

49-year-old Xiang Dong Yu, also known as Mike Yu, who is from Beijing, China, was sentenced to nearly 6 years in federal prison. He must also pay $12,500 in fines. And, upon completion of his sentence, he will be deported.

Yu admitted guilt to 2 counts of theft of trade secrets. Secrets he obtained while working for Ford Motor as a product engineer.

Huawei Settles with Motorola Over Trade Secrets Dispute

April 14, China' largest telecoms equipment maker Huawei Technologies Co. Ltd. and Motorola Solutions Inc. (NYSE:MSI) have agreed to settle a legal dispute over intellectual property, clearing the way for Motorola to complete the sale of most of its wireless assets to Nokia Siemens Networks.

Motorola Solutions has agreed to pay a patent fee to Huawei and drop its lawsuit against the Chinese company, in the process dropping the right to sue Huawei in the future over any related trade secrets issues, the companies said in a joint statement on Wednesday afternoon.

Under the agreement, Huawei has also dropped the right to sue Motorola for intellectual property infringement related to the deal with Nokia Siemens and has dropped its lawsuit against Motorola, according to the statement.

Google Won't Release Minority Hiring Numbers, Claiming it As a Trade Secret

Several minority organizations are asking and protesting for Google to release its minority hiring statistics much like other telecom companies have.

Organizations like the Latino Business Chamber of Greater Los Angeles and the Black Economic Council feel blacks, Latinos and women are underrepresented at Google but can not substantiate the claim.

Last year the U.S. Department of Labor asked 34 Silicon Valley firms to voluntarily disclose their hiring practices and minority hires. Of the 34, 12 responded and the others like Google claimed they were trade secrets.
