A US federal court has prohibited Motorola Solutions from divulging confidential trade secrets of Huawei Technologies to rival Nokia Siemens Networks.

Motorola Solutions is selling its wireless network infrastructure business, which incorporates Huawei technology, to a joint venture of Finland's Nokia and Siemens for $1.2bn.

Last month, Huawei filed a lawsuit against Motorola, arguing that the deal with Nokia Siemens Networks would represent a misappropriation of Huawei trade secrets.

Crain's Detroit Business

In a building punctuated with spires that rise like exclamation points, a team plotting the future of Amway Corp. discussed confidential research about the demographics of its Southeast Asian customers -- all within listening range of Steelcase Inc. researchers.

A month earlier at the site, dubbed GRID70, Steelcase shared trade secrets with Wolverine World Wide Inc. on how to control odors from cements used in their products -- a problem common to footwear and office furniture manufacturing.

This week, researchers from all three companies and Meijer Inc. will convene to share sensitive data -- what they know about Generation Y -- in hopes that they come away with fresh outlooks on how to serve customers in their early 30s and younger -- the so-called echo boomers.

Child porn collector sentenced to 10 years

U.S. District Judge Edward Garcia also ordered Johnson to serve 10 years of supervised release following his release from prison. Johnson pleaded guilty on Sept. 21, 2010.

According to court documents, images of child pornography were found on Johnson's work laptop computer after he was terminated for allegedly stealing trade secrets.

The computer was returned to the company on July 27, 2007, and the company sent it to a private forensic lab to see if any company trade secrets had been stored improperly on the computer. During this analysis, the forensic analyst found evidence of child pornography. A forensic review revealed 2,100 images of child pornography that had been downloaded onto the computer between Sept. 27, 2005, and June 18, 2007. In addition, 80 videos of child pornography were recovered.
