Background: Publisher of greeting cards sued commercial artist, claiming breach of contract to provide artwork for cards. Publisher sought temporary restraining order (TRO) barring artist from working with competitor.


Holdings: The District Court, Elaine E. Bucklo, J., held that:

(1) publisher did not show likelihood of prevailing on claim that artist breached joint venture arrangement;

(2) there was no trade secret appropriation, either under Illinois Trade Secrets Act (ITSA) or Illinois common law;

(3) artist did not breach license agreement by working with competitor;
